During the crusades, crusaders would charge the enemy shouting "Deus vult!" Latin for "God will's it." While traveling through Central America, a region destroyed by US interests for the better part of the last 40 years, these words gained a sharper meaning. This piece is a quiet stance against the exploitation, greed and avarice perpetuated by institutionalized religion, as well as a reflection on the work that is still needed in my own heart in examining my personal interactions with justice and redemption.
